WEPN distributed and non-centralized approach makes it more secure and private by design. This is due to the fact that the traffic that goes through your Pod at home is never visible or accessible by WEPN. WEPN role is to facilitate the end-to-end experience for providers and their end-users. Our mobile apps and services can help with diagnostics and monitoring the vital signals of Pods.
Additionally, all of the WEPN programs and their source codes including our mobile applications, server side code, as well as the code running on the local device are 100% open source and publicly available at:
Privacy
We aim to be fully transparent on how we design our software and what information is logged or stored for diagnostics. For maximum privacy, we store or log very minimal information that is necessary to perform the intended operations and avoid storing personal identifiable information (PII) other than the provided email address and IP addresses. Security
We take security very seriously at WEPN. Specially since our code is open source and anyone has visibility into the inner workings of our code, we have to take extra measure to ensure security of our programs. To that end, we have worked with several security audit firms who would play the role of adversary and try to compromise the system with knowledge of its operation and would share their findings with us through a Security Audit Report. We work with their team members after the audit report is ready to address any identified vulnerability before the report is made publicly available.
Our last round of security audit was preformed by OTF (Open Technology Fund) Red Team Lab partner 7ASecurity. The report has been published here.
